Sometimes just one word, or idea, can help us tap into our intuition and imagination, and open up a multitude of possibilities.

It’s a new year, new goals and big dreams are top-of-mind; there are all kinds of goal setting, success blueprints, and programs to create miracles out there, hundreds of which are showing up in my inbox. While I appreciate the good intentions, I appreciate simplicity more. So that’s why I like to commit to my one-word theme—writers love having a theme because it keeps us focused, organized and moving the action forward.

This simple practice can be a game-changer as to how your year rolls out.
Here’s an example.

Last year my word was “shift.” Just prior to 2015, I’ve moved to Victoria and shifted locations to create my vision of living by the water on the west coast. Well, the metaphor of “an ocean of possibilities” became my reality as I connected with many networks of like-minded entrepreneurs, colleagues, and mentors. One of those mentors was William Whitecloud, author of The Magician’s Way and international trainer in high-level creativity, who helped me “shift” how I create my life, business, and relationships. I spent three transformational weeks studying and training with William in Africa (on game reserves in Swaziland!) as well as two later trips to London, for more advanced programs and even deeper connections both personal and professional.

Within 2015, my perspective—and writing—shifted to the point that I’ve just rewritten the (previously completed) manuscript for my book “Everyday Visionaries,” which will now have a new focus and title.

So, what’s my “word” for 2016? This year, I’m going with Genius.
As a sequel to 2015, I want to continue to cultivate and experience the magic that happens when you tap into your natural talents, abilities, and highest source of creative power, i.e., your ‘genius.’

This year I will publish my aforementioned book, written from my heart, soul, and assorted places of true vulnerability.

I’m also collaborating with colleagues—and their genius—to create workshops, events, and projects (in Victoria, Africa and beyond) to help others learn to create what they love and fulfill their highest potential.

And lastly, I intend to hang out with my genius on a regular basis, not just when I need her, to access and act on my intuition in a way that would make my spirit guides proud, and to achieve my definition of true success—to live a life that is an expression of one’s soul.

So my fellow geniuses, Einstein said, “Imagination is the preview of life’s coming attractions.”

What will you imagine and create in 2016? What will be your ‘word-for-the-year’ or theme?

Can’t wait to hear what unfolds for you in the coming months.
Here’s to a happy, stellar year living from your genius…and creating the absolute best version of YOU that expresses your soul.
